Short, direct answers to what founders ask before signing up. If your question isn't here, email support@budgetvsactual.app and you'll get a real answer from a person, not a form response.
BudgetVsActual (BvA) is a browser-based financial modeling application at budgetvsactual.app. It builds three-statement financial projections, sizes your raise, and tracks budget against actuals after the round closes. There's nothing to install and it runs in any modern browser.
It's published by 2.0 Group LLC, d/b/a Budgetvsactual.app, 3400 Cottage Way Ste G2, Sacramento, CA 95825.
No — it produces the finance section, not the whole deck. That's deliberate.
What it generates, as editable native PowerPoint slides you drop straight into your own deck:
What it does not generate: team, market sizing, product, competition, traction narrative, go-to-market, or the ask. That's your story, and no software should be writing it for you.
Two model types — SaaS / subscription and R&D / deep tech — each with a guided setup covering your timeline and funding rounds, revenue, acquisition funnel, cost of service, operating expenses, and balance sheet. From those inputs you get:
BvA is in paid pilot, and it's labelled that way inside the app — both model types carry a beta badge, and features that aren't ready yet are marked "coming soon" where you'd expect to find them rather than buried in a footnote. Additional model types (CPG, marketplace, professional services), deeper accounting integrations, the investor quarterly reporting deck, and the what-if decision tool are in that category today.
Your subscription price is not contingent on any unshipped feature — that's written into the agreement, not just promised here. If a specific capability is a condition of you moving forward, email and ask about that one directly; you'll get a straight answer rather than a roadmap.
Your models are stored in the cloud on US-based managed infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256 at the storage layer.
You can export a complete Excel backup of any model at any time and keep your own copy — we'd encourage that at every milestone, with any vendor.
Your data is yours. You retain ownership of everything you enter, and it is not used to train any AI model — the product is deterministic financial arithmetic, not a system that learns from your numbers. We don't sell it, and we don't share it with third parties other than the infrastructure providers that run the service.
Your model is visible to you, to anyone you explicitly share it with, and to our own support staff when we're working on your account — that's how onboarding help and troubleshooting happen. We'd rather say that plainly than claim nobody can see it.
We do derive anonymized aggregate benchmarks from customer data — typical conversion rates, acquisition costs, margin bands — and a published figure is only ever drawn from ten or more companies, so no individual company's numbers can be read back out of it. That floor is written into the Terms, not just stated here.
If you have specific security or data-handling requirements from your board, investors, or counsel, email support@budgetvsactual.app — those get answered directly and in writing. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Yes. In My Companies, each company has a Share button — enter a colleague's email and that company appears in their account once they sign in. Removing access works the same way.
Three things worth knowing: the email must match the one they sign in with exactly; each person needs their own login, which counts against your three included users; and there's no view-only mode yet, so anyone you share with can edit. Access is currently invite-only, so reach out and we'll set them up. For a board member who only needs to read the output, sending the exported PowerPoint or Excel is the cleaner path and doesn't use a seat.
$199 per month, which includes three named users. Month to month — no annual contract and no setup fee. Additional users are $49 per user per month.
Logins are personal to the individual and can't be shared, and everyone who works in a model needs their own. If a board member or investor only needs to read the output, export the PowerPoint or Excel and send it — that doesn't require a seat.
Your card is billed monthly and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing subscriptions@budgetvsactual.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you've already paid for — you keep full access through that date, and you aren't billed again.
We don't prorate partial months. Your models stay exportable for as long as your subscription is active, so export your work before your last paid month ends — access to the application stops when the subscription does.
One hour of onboarding support at signup, by phone or email — typically enough to get your chart of accounts mapped and your first model built.
Deeper financial work — ongoing advisory, board preparation, fractional CFO engagements — is a separate engagement with separate fees, so you're never paying for advisory you didn't ask for.
No. They are two entirely independent agreements.
The software subscription does not include fractional CFO or advisory services, and any such services are contracted separately under their own written agreement. You can subscribe to the software and never engage us for advisory. You can end an advisory engagement and keep the software. Neither one terminates the other.
